Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a contractor license?

Yes. Florida requires an active contractor license for most permit applications. We work with licensed contractors (general, roofing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, solar), certified installers, and property owners pursuing owner-builder permits where allowed.

What if I don't have a license?

Jane Michael Permit Solutions does not hold a general contractor license. If you need work done but don't have the appropriate license, you'll need to hire a licensed contractor to pull the permit. We can expedite the permit process once you have licensed contractor representation.

Which Florida counties do you serve?

We serve all of Florida, with our deepest relationships in Central Florida: Seminole, Orange, Volusia, Osceola, Brevard, and Lake counties. For other Florida counties, we'll give you an honest assessment of timeline and our ability to help.

How fast can you get my permit?

Solar permits typically take 5-10 business days. Building permits usually take 2-4 weeks. Trade permits often process in 1-5 days. Actual timelines depend on the jurisdiction, project complexity, and current AHJ workload. We provide realistic timelines upfront.

Do you charge if the permit is denied?

Our fees cover the expediting service—preparing applications, managing submissions, handling corrections, and following up with building departments. Permit decisions are made solely by the AHJ. We discuss fee structure before starting any project.

Can you help with inspections?

Yes. Once your permit is approved, we can help coordinate inspection scheduling and provide guidance on what inspectors will be looking for. We stay engaged through your project to support a smooth process.
